Getting the size right
Three measurements matter: the chest at its widest point, the neck at the base where a collar sits, and the back along the spine from the base of the neck to the base of the tail.
The vest should stop at the base of the tail. One that runs past it will catch the back legs when your dog swims.
Read this before the first swim
This is a flotation aid, not a life-saving device. It adds buoyancy to a dog that can already swim — it will not keep an exhausted or panicking dog safe on its own.
Never leave a dog unattended in or near water. Fit every strap, then test in shallow calm water first and watch how the vest sits once it is wet. Check the straps, stitching and foam panels before each use, and replace the vest if any of them are damaged.

Can my dog swim alone in it?
No. Never leave a dog alone in or near water, even in a flotation aid. Of everything on this page, this is the line that matters most.
What should a good fit feel like?
Snug enough that it cannot shift or slip over the head, loose enough that your dog breathes easily and moves their legs freely.
When should I replace it?
As soon as the foam, stitching, straps, buckles or grab handle show damage or wear. A flotation aid that has started to go is not one to gamble on.
