The suction only holds on something clean, smooth and non-porous. Wipe the surface first, then press the mat down firmly across the whole base. On textured plaster or timber it will not hold at all — that is the surface, not the mat.
What can I put on it?
Soft, spreadable, dog-safe food. Read the ingredients yourself before it goes on — xylitol and chocolate are toxic to dogs, and both turn up in ordinary human spreads.
Can my dog chew it?
No. It is a lick mat, not a chew toy. Stay with your dog while they use it, and throw it out if the silicone tears — a torn piece is the thing that causes trouble.
Will it stop my dog hating the bath?
It gives them something better to think about, which for a lot of dogs is enough. For a dog that is genuinely frightened rather than just bored, a lick mat is a help, not a fix.
